Let’s take a look at each of these popular claims of oil pulling!


It makes your mouth healthier. By pulling out bad bacteria that can cause cavities and gum disease, oil pulling can actually make your mouth healthier and even stop chronic bad breath.


It whitens teeth. Research has not proved this, but some people claim they get whiter teeth with oil pulling. This should be considered a side effect of oil pulling (albeit a great one) rather than its main purpose.

It can decrease the likelihood of tooth decay and reduce overall plaque content in the mouth. Oil pulling may be able to reverse tooth decay, but only when combined with other healthy practices.


Although research hasn’t proved that oil pulling helps decrease your chances for developing chronic disease, keeping your mouth healthy and free of toxins can benefit your whole body!

If you want to give oil pulling a try, do this practice every day: put a tablespoon of oil in your mouth (preferably sesame or coconut) and swish it around for up to twenty minutes as soon as you wake up. Spit out in the trash, then brush and floss your teeth as normal. Easy!

Alzheimer’s Patient Reverses Symptoms by Applying Coconut Oil On A Daily Basis

Carolyn, the devoted daughter of an 88-year-old women who has Alzheimer’s recently decided to take charge of her mother’s care. The almost immediate results she saw were drastic and inspiring.


Additionally, the simple change she implemented in her mom’s life is available for any family struggling and suffering from Alzheimer’s to try for themselves.


Her mother spent the last seven years in a nursing home. As the years wore on and her mother’s condition deteriorated, Carolyn started to worry that her mother was being neglected and potentially abused.


Carolyn decided it was time to make a change and take matters into her own hands. She removed her ailing mother and devoted herself to being her mother’s full-time primary caregiver. On February 14, 2016, Carolyn made the hardest and probably the most important decision for her mother and removed her from the toxic nursing home environment and took her home to care for her.


While in the care of the nursing home, Carolyn’s mother was diagnosed with stage 6 Alzheimer’s. Stage 6 is also known as the “severe decline” stage. In stage 6 most patients need help with day-to-day life activities and near constant supervision. For the last two years, Carolyn’s mother struggled to speak and did not remember people, names, faces, and words. Reading had become almost impossible for her mom due to her memory issues. Communication was becoming a real struggle for Carolyn’s mother.


Coconut oil, the wonder drug


Carolyn had read about and was familiar with the benefits of coconut oil. Immediately after her mother’s liberation from the nursing home, Carolyn started liberally applying coconut oil. She would do this twice a day, after bathing in the morning and again at night before bedtime.


Within 5 days she started noticing an immediate and drastic improvement in her mother’s condition. Her mother started remembering people and names she hadn’t in years. She was able to communicate again. Carolyn was amazed when her mother was able to read, out loud, a Bible storybook and only struggled with a couple of words.


Alzheimers and coconut oil, science backs it up


These results may have been shocking, but they are no surprise given the results of a recent Spanish clinical trial. In December 2015, a clinical trial was published on the effects of coconut oil being used to treat patients who have Alzheimer’s.


The study included giving 40 ml, approximately 2.7 tablespoons, of coconut oil a day to one of two control groups. Both control groups were made up of people of varying ages and genders in various stages of Alzheimer’s. One control group received the coconut oil and the other did not.


The study concluded that there was a statistically significant increase in test scores demonstrating improved cognitive status in the control group that received the coconut oil. The study clearly demonstrated the potentially powerful positive effects of coconut oil on patients struggling with Alzheimer’s.


In addition, a US study currently being conducted in Florida is scheduled for publication in late 2016. The health, wellness, and Alzheimer’s communities are eagerly awaiting those results.


Big Pharma doesn’t welcome the idea


The pharmaceutical industry is the one industry that stands to lose the most if the new studies collaborate Spanish study findings. Alzheimer’s disease affects millions of seniors and is a rapidly increasing disease. Pharmaceutical companies have been working for years to develop a vaccine but to date have come up empty handed. Pharmaceutical companies may be left out in the cold if the connection between coconut oil and cognitive ability increase in Alzheimer patients is proven.


For Carolyn and her mother there is no doubt that coconut oil has made a huge impact in their daily lives. Carolyn and her mother are enjoying this additional time together, their newfound freedom, and their ability to communicate with one another.

Lemon Coconut Pudding Recipes


Recipe #1

Ingredients:


2 cups young coconut
½ teaspoon lemon extract
1 teaspoon vanilla
½ teaspoon almond extract
1½ tablespoons lemon juice
2 drops stevia
½ teaspoon honey, to balance
1 pinch sea salt
1 cup water, in increments
1 cup ice cubes


Directions:


Put all ingredients, except ice, in a high-speed blender and blend until smooth.
Taste and adjust the sweetness, then add the ice and blend again until cool and creamy.
Serve in small ramekin dishes and garnish with lemon zest before serving.


Recipe #2

Ingredients:


½ cup of lemon juice
3 tablespoons of grass-fed beef gelatin (vegan substitute: 3 tbsp agar powder or agar flakes)
2 cups of full-fat organic coconut milk (in can)
¼ teaspoon of vanilla extract
Stevia to taste


Instructions:


First, Put 1/2 cup of water into a pan, sprinkle the gelatin over the water and set aside for a few mins until it becomes soft and spongy.
Now, put the lemon juice, coconut milk, and vanilla into a mixing bowl or mason jar.
Next, heat the gelatin mixture on low- low heat just until dissolved and no more.

Coconut

Coconut milk provides a great dose of anti-inflammatory medium chain triglycerides (MCTs) that are easily metabolized by the body and used to burn fat.


Lemon

Its high vitamin C content is one of the reasons why it’s best to keep a steady supply of lemons in your home. These citrus fruits also have antioxidants known as flavonoids, which are known to fight heart disease, cancer, and inflammation.

You May be surprised by my response


 


I read numerous nutrition articles, research articles and health books weekly if not daily.    Most of the information is very helpful and informative.


Usually it leads me to ask more questions which then lead me to more research. Along the way I stumble upon some blogs-some very good ones and some really bad ones.


This blog post is created because of a blog I read on “Ways to Alter Recipes to make them Healthier” This was written by someone called “Dr. Donna” but no other information about her was provided.


While the article had many errors (and a few good points) the comment that made me laugh was this:


“Commit to NO sugar in a recipe.  You can do this by using coconut sugar instead”


Hmmm, last time I checked coconut SUGAR is still sugar!


What concerns me is that her post has been viewed over 46,000 times in the past year since it was posted!  How many of those people now have chronic health conditions due to their “sugarless coconut sugar” eating.


I’m sorry, what did she not understand in the wording “coconut sugar”


I admit that I use coconut sugar in some of my baked good recipes. BUT I would never mislead my guests or clients and say “here, try some of my no sugar added cookies!”


The Facts


  • Some tout coconut sugar to have a lower glycemic index than regular processed/refined white sugar.  But if you look at the research, only a couple of studies have been done and on only a handful of people.  One study was done by a government that is one of the largest producers of coconut sugar in the world.

  • Studies vary saying coconut sugar has a glycemic index anywhere from 35 to 54.  (White sugar is around 60).  For me, I need to see more research.

  • Coconut sugar is higher in some minerals as opposed to white sugar BUT….

  • In order to get the nutrient benefits from coconut sugar you would have to eat A LOT of it!  Eat whole foods instead.

  • Regular table sugar is 50% fructose, 50% glucose.  You may see claims that coconut sugar is fructose free but in reality it is roughly 40% fructose.  Fructose gets processed by the liver and the excess get stored as fat.  Fructose contributes to heart disease, diabetes, obesity and in my opinion, mental health issues and systemic inflammation as well.

  • Coconut sugar does contain some inulin which is a prebiotic fiber.  Again, how much do you need to consume to reap the benefits? Eat raw onion, raw garlic, raw asparagus and not overly ripe bananas for your prebiotic fiber instead!

  • Some coconut sugar products are not 100% coconut sugar but instead a blend with cane sugar.  Know your products or ask someone who does know which products to use!

  • If you are diabetic you should treat the consumption of coconut sugar the same as consuming refined white sugar.

  • While it may be the better choice than white sugar, it can still impact your liver and blood sugar health.

  • If you opt for coconut sugar, use it in small, limited quantities, not part of your daily intake.

  • It has the same amount of calories as white sugar.

Bottom Line


Coconut sugar is still a sugar. It is a better option that GMO white processed sugar for the occasional baked good but don’t be misled. It is still sugar.  Use it as an occasional treat instead.


Coconut is a great source for healthy fats but in the form of coconut oil. Fat gives food its flavor. I make banana bread that really does not have any added sugar!  What gives it a great taste is the coconut oil and the bananas provide all the sweetness that you need.


Final Thoughts


There is so much information on the web and unfortunately much of it can do more harm than good. Always check the sources of the information provided and do further research. If you are still unsure, bring the information to a qualified professional in that subject area to get their take on the information.

Ingredients:


Cooking pot (medium to large size)
1 Litre of distilled water
50g of finely ground, dried cannabis blossoms
250ml of organic coconut oil
Cheesecloth or fine strainer
Plastic or glass container with lid


Directions:


-Melt 250ml of coconut oil in your cooking pot with low heat.
-Add 1 litre of distilled water to it once it melted completely.
-Throw 50g of finely ground buds into the mixture.
-Give the mixture a good amount of heat for about one hour. Stir frequently.
-After one hour, reduce temperatures substantially and aim for a simmering at low temperatures for 8-24 hours.
120-135°C is a good temperature range. Anything over 150°C will destroy the therapeutic ingredients.
-Filter the mixture through a cheese cloth or strainer, into your container.
-Separate the nasty plant matter from anything that’s liquid.
-Close the container and put it in the fridge to cool down.
-Now you can use it.
