Mr Hunt says these changes are a direct result of the shock to the NHS administered by the Francis report.

Beyond the structural and managerial changes, he hails an vital shift in attitudes, saying: “People have started to contact these modifications ‘the Francis effect’: a tangible shift in priorities in our hospitals.”
