3 more posts from R. Wayne Alexander’s study group at Emory have been retracted in the last two months. Three papers were retracted in 2011, bringing the group’s current complete to six. (Information about the latest retractions was first reported on Retraction View.)

1 important difference in the most recent retractions is that Lian Zuo, the co-writer who was the target for considerably of the blame in 2011, is not a co-author on any of the newly retracted papers. The retraction notices cite picture manipulation as the lead to of the retraction but give tiny much more insight into the difficulty. The notices spring from an Emory University Investigation Committee which found evidence of manipulation of digital pictures, but “was unable to attribute duty for the picture manipulation to any certain person.”
The new retractions are from papers published in 2001 and 2002 in the Journal of Biological Chemistry, Circulation Analysis, and Arteriosclerosis, Thrombosis, and Vascular Biology.
I have requested a comment from Wayne Alexander. In June Alexander ended a 14-year tenure as the chairman of the department of medicine at Emory University. He retained his faculty position in the division of cardiology.
