"I had to purchase two new wardrobes following a 12 months on the 5:two diet"

Roger had half-heartedly slimmed in the past – regimes like the Atkins protein-hefty diet program. But as we all know, he says: “You go on and for a week or two it is wonderful. But then, you end losing fat, it feels pointless, you cease, and the excess weight piles back on.”


Even when he was diagnosed with high blood pressure, and place on medication, Roger couldn’t shift adequate fat to make a variation.


And then came his daughter’s guide. ‘I began in the January and by the end of month 1, I had misplaced seven pounds. I felt: ‘This is working’.’


He fasted two days a week regularly for the subsequent six months, and was delighted to discover he had lost two stone and 9 lbs. He was 14 stone – and at the halfway mark.


“Now of program I had to encounter the downside of dieting,” he laughs. “I had to get my jackets re-tailored, plus new trousers and new shirts.”


Each Monday and Thursday, adjusted sometimes for his social life, Roger fasted until finally Christmas when he hit his 12 stone 7lb target. “And on New Year’s Eve, my delighted cardiologist buddy advised me he believed I could lose another half a stone safely. So I did.”


By the begin of this year, not only had Roger lost 4 stone and nine pounds. He was advised his blood strain had fallen to normal levels so he no longer essential to get medication.


He had also lost practically ten points from his Physique Mass Index (BMI) – the index calculated on height to weight which medical doctors use to assess our health. “I went from a BMI of 33.09, which is termed obese, to a BMI of 24.six, which is regular.”


He adds: “Mimi describes it as me dropping a child of eight.” Mimi herself has explained she is thrilled to throw her arms close to her Daddy’s waist and uncover they meet.


Roger is even now following her diet regime – fasting one day a week for upkeep. “I’ve totally altered my consuming routines,” he admits. “I don’t consume cakes or biscuits any more, and I don’t know how Frys remain in company now I have stopped eating its Chocolate Crèmes.”


Mimi has now written an additional book – The Quickly Seashore Diet, a six week kick-start off to the diet plan – which I am following for the Every day Telegraph.


So for me, and all the other five:two-readers, what’s the secret, Roger?


“Do not believe about it all the time,” he cautions. “There are instances you look to go backwards – analyse them – what did you do?”


He adds: “Be lively – go for a stroll or get immersed in work you will uncover time has flowed.”


Roger is, of course, proud as punch of Mimi (and her sister Debbie – who with Julie – contributed to the recipes for each books). But there has been 1 downside.


All people new and re-tailored clothes from final summer season – Roger has had to replace and renew his wardrobe a second time. I do not think he would have it any other way.
