The researchers analysed data from 9,435 youngsters who answered queries about gender expression – how a lot women described themselves as “feminine” or boys as “masculine” – and cancer risks.
The benefits showed that boys who described themselves as “very masculine” – in terms of their self-image and perform preferences in childhood – were almost 80 per cent much more probably to use chewing tobacco and 55 per cent a lot more probably to smoke cigars than boys who described themselves as the least masculine.
The most feminine girls have been 32 per cent more very likely to use tanning beds and sixteen per cent more probably to be physically inactive than the least feminine women.
